A while back, while I was buying some individual Legos at lego.com, I added some train wheels and “bearing elements” into my shopping cart. I thought it would be fun to build a train – or, at least, a train car. I love trains. When my order arrived in the mail, I discovered that the wheels didn’t fit. Thinking that I’d ordered the wrong sized wheels, I bought a different set of wheels the next time I shopped for Legos. They still didn’t fit. I couldn’t figure out what I’d done wrong until I recently realized that the wheels weren’t the problem. I needed to buy axles for the building elements. I bought axles, and now I have built my first physical train car – an electric locomotive. (I’ve built a virtual streetcar already.)
I like the way this piece turned out. I like it a whole lot. My only quibble is that I would have liked the overhead connector to be larger – but I’m not worried about it. I especially like the way the yellow stripe turned out. I like the overall balance of yellow and grey.

Look! The wheels turn!
